SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY~24

Welcome to another SSS post! Thanks for stopping by each week to read and comment.  I truly appreciate it! Here's another snippet from Dating 911 where Jett & Roxanne are creating their own little blaze...

He kissed her, plunging his tongue in and out of her mouth, matching the steady rhythm of her hips. The erotic melding of their lips and their sex super charged his awareness of Roxanne. This was the woman whom he’d fallen in love with. Everything about her drove him wild, her soft lilac scent, the softness of her skin, and he groaned in exquisite ecstasy.

“I--Christ,” Jett panted, sucking air. He’d almost said, I love you, but caught himself just in time.

WRITING UPDATE~ :)

Today I finally subbed my completed manuscript, Dating 911.  This is bittersweet because I'd actually started this book right after the release of my first novel, The Doctor's Deception.

Concurrent with the fantastic news that I was going to be published, was the saddened news that my Mother's breast cancer had spread and she was becoming sicker.  Consequently, I never had the opportunity to promote The Doctor's Deception as it should have been.

I am pleased, though, that my Mother did read my book.  I received a text from my sister and she said, "Mom is so funny."

I asked her what she was doing.  She texted, "I was trying to ask her something and she said 'shhhh.  I'm in a hot spot and Kathy is very descriptive'.  LOL."

My face burned.  Never in a million years had I thought my Mom would read my book.  I'd sent her an autographed copy because I'd been excited about it and wanted to share.  This was an accomplished chef who read mostly cookbooks.  But she loved it.  And I am glad that she was able to enjoy it.

After Mom passed, trying to get back into the swing of writing was very difficult.  I plugged away and finally finished 911, but had lost confidence in myself and the story.  I trudged on, working on a few short stories and shelving those.  The sequel to Dating 911, Dating Impossible kept swirling around in my brain.  I wrote the Syn, but was dissatisfied with my heroine's background.  I worked up the story idea for the third book in the series, Dating Trouble.

I started to get excited about writing again.  With the help of a fellow nurse/writer (Thanks Sharon!!) I have a great plan for my heroine in Impossible.  I also have an outline for Trouble.  So, it's time to crank those out.  In the meantime, here's the blurb for Dating 911.  You can read snippets from Dating 911 on my Six Sentence Sunday posts.

Dating 911 Blurb:
Tagline: Rescue Me meets ER

Emergency room nurse, Roxanne Carter is a loser-magnet wishing she could enjoy her single life. Commiserating with girlfriends over butterscotch martinis creates the idea of The Dating Manifesto--a not so scientific research project which promises to point the way to dating success. While gathering data to find the most suitable single men available, she wades through a series of unsavory, stale dates, which literally places her back at ground zero. Just when she is ready to give up, sin personified in the form of sexy firefighter Jett Avery, arrives tainting all of her previous data.

A traumatic warehouse fire, in which firefighter Jett Avery's closest friend dies, has him suffering from Posttraumtic Stress Disorder. Attempting to stave off the worst of his depression, he decides to use his brand of therapy...Sex. The remedy has lost luster until he encounters ER nurse Roxanne Carter.

The pursuit of Roxanne by Jett's twin brother, ER Doctor Cruz Avery, complicates her research and inteferes with Jett's therapy. Does Roxanne choose the brother who by analysis is the perfect match? Or the broken, dark and irresistible one?

I hope to have good news to share with you soon!

SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY~23

Welcome back!  My pic today is so totally my hero--always taking what he wants! LOL  This week in Dating 911, Jett and his fellow firefighter, Seth are working a fire.  Seth asks where Jett's been and an interesting conversation ensues...

Well, you know, I stopped at the nudey bar and slammed a few beers,” Jett joked as he took his axe and thrust the sharpened blade into the ceiling tiles.

“What would your hot, little nursey think about you in a nudey bar? She’d kick your ass,” Seth said.

“Roxanne and I aren’t exclusive,” Jett said. Fresh misery constricted his chest that had nothing to do with the tight SCBA mask.

“Yeah, and Mother Theresa wears hot pink thongs and has a nipple piercing,” Seth said moving down the row of desks beyond Jett’s line of vision as he spoke.

“Dude, that is just wrong on so many levels," Jett laughed.

SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY~22

Welcome back! Thanks for all those who keep coming back and commenting each week.  As promised, my Six continues right where we left off last week when Jett pushes Roxanne away...
She slapped him. The sting of her palm burned his cheek, but he dared not move.

“You stubborn jackass! What we have together is more than a handful of one-night stands. Why are you doing this to us?” Comprehension entered her dark blue eyes, “This has to do with your friend’s death, doesn’t it?”

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Don't forget to go to http://www.sixsunday.com/ to check out some more fabulous authors who are posting their Six this week!

Confusion, then anger darkened her blue eyes. “So, I’m good enough to use when it’s convenient for you?”

Jett wanted to shout a denial at the top of his lungs for all to hear, but he’d made his decision. Roxanne deserved better. He crossed his arms over his chest. Time to be a dickhead. “It sinking in yet, sweetheart?”

That's it for now! I left you a little "Hot Love" above to take the sting out of Jett's rejection.  Enjoy your week!

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT~DEE CARNEY!!!

I wanted to shine a spotlight on Romance Author, Dee Carney!  Her website says, "A little bit exotic...A whole lot of erotic"!!! And she doesn't disappoint!

I am in no way a professional book reviewer, but I LOVE to read a hot romance that will singe your fingers as you turn the pages!  This is what you'll find in Dee Carney's latest book, Keeping Pace, now available at Samhain Publishing at this link:
www.samhainpublishing.com/keeping-pace-p-6354.html.

Here's the blurb:
Six years after her husband’s death, Regina Pace is still just going through the motions, her only pleasure a nightly glass (or three) of wine to dull the ache. Tonight is no exception—until a sensual outdoor encounter with her neighbor’s son, freshly home from college. He’s older, wiser, more devastatingly handsome than she remembered. He’s also fifteen years her junior.

Despite her misgivings, it isn’t long before her nightly ritual includes a long, deep drink of Josh Smith. Ogling leads to touching, then the sparks flare into an erotic encounter that feels wickedly right—and deliciously forbidden.

Yet the intense heat can’t burn away the doubt pestering the back of her mind. That the gap between their ages is too large, even for the most determined leap of faith…

Here are my thoughts:
There is more to this story than hot sensuality.  Dee's skillful at building three dimensional heroes and heroines that you really care for, mixing your own emotions in with that of her characters.  I was sucked in to Regina's loneliness and grief from page one...rooting for her to feel like a woman again while struggling with guilt along with the age difference between herself and the one man (Josh) who brings her back to living life again.  And Josh...bless him for not giving up on Regina!  He's patient, tender, sensitive, loving, strong...Everything a hero should be.

So, go out and get your copy today!  I promise you, you won't be disappointed!  And if you can't get enough...check out Dee's back list of books here:  http://deecarney.com/bookshelf

Cheers to having hot summer reads to keep up busy!

Happy Wednesday!

He cleared his throat with obnoxious intent, not bothering to cover his mouth.

“Oh!” she exclaimed, whirling around to confront him.  “It’s you, Jett!”

Gown gathered with one arm in a careless gesture across her front, Cruz noted what the smooth fabric missed--A generous portion of exposed cleavage. He lifted his gaze to her face as his sizzling brain registered she’d mistaken him for his twin brother and recognition mixed with disappointment slammed into his gut.

The spitfire tomboy who hounded him and Jett interfering with their boyhood exploits for most of his youth had turned into quite a beauty. “My, my," Cruz tsked, “such foul language, and from such a beautiful mouth.”
