Happy Sunday! How is everyone today? Welcome to this week's #Snippet Central where we share with you some Sunday goodness. As always, this is only possible due to the hard work of the lovely Doris O'Connor who puts this together for us each week. 

Today's snippet comes from my latest release, Chicks Dig Scars which is apart of the Prowlers & Growlers Paranormal Boxed Set that made the USA Today Best Seller's list last week! To set the scene, Devon is about to watch the DVD which his father left for him in the event of his death which explains the reasons for the terms of his will. I edited it in an attempt to fit the guidelines.

“I know you too well, son,” Seamus said. “You’ll probably accuse her of being some Anna Nicole Smith or some such nonsense. You know my heart still belongs to your mother. Always has, always will. So, before you go and make an ass out of yourself, let me set you straight on the matter. The girl has no idea I have money. She has spent her free time watching over me and caring for me and I’ve grown to love her like a daughter. Every time I was hospitalized, it was she who made sure I was well taken care of and when I’d be discharged she’d often check on me to make sure I was fed and took my medication, running errands even though she didn’t have to. Not once did she ever ask for anything in return. Hell, she didn’t even know I could’ve hired a whole army of nurses and servants to take care of me.” He chuckled, mischief gleaming in his eyes.

Devon groaned, remembering all the awful things he’d said to Rachel. “Too, late, Da. I already have.” He chose to ignore his subsequent relief at the knowledge Rachel had never slept with his father.

She sucked in a sharp breath and her knees opened a bit wider, allowing him greater access. Her eyes darkened in challenge. “Oh?”

“We can stay for dessert, or.” His hand slid higher, fingering the edge of lace that barred him from what he really wanted to taste.

Their waiter walked by and Kate grabbed his arm, halting him. “Check, please.”

This week's snippet comes from my upcoming release, Chicks Dig Scars which is included in the Prowlers & Growlers Paranormal Boxed set where you see a bit into my heroine's tragic past... 

“What have we here?” Mick said with a nasty sneer, face contorted into an all too familiar mask of rage. “Going somewhere, my pet?”

“Mick,” she said, voice a harsh whisper. His massive bulk blocked her exit. Muscles momentarily seized by fear, the slight hesitation cost her. He wedged his booted foot in the doorway as she attempted to slam it shut.

“Run!” Seamus shouted.

Finnegan’s protesting screech met her ears as she dropped the carrier. Frantic to escape, she turned and sprinted down the hallway into the kitchen. Oh, God. When had he been released from jail? At the back door, she fumbled with the latch. Mick yanked her head back by his firm grasp on her ponytail. A sob wrenched from her throat.

“Where do you think you’re going,” he said, hauling her roughly against his chest. His harsh breathing came in pants near her ear.

Thanks to Doris O'Connor for putting this weekly blog hop together! Now on to my snippet. I just received the cover today for Nursing Misfits Book 1, Drama Queen! I absolutely am in love... To set the scene, it's Anne's first day of clinical and things haven't been going as planned...Enjoy! Oh, and this is unedited ;)

A soft knock on the bathroom door interrupted her anguish. Anne stilled, breath caught in her throat. “J-Just a—” she hiccupped. “Just a minute.”

“Anne?”

She froze mid-sniffle. There was no mistaking that sexy baritone voice. Even now, knee-deep in her own misery the sound whispered across her skin, awakening all her nerve endings. She remembered melting into those strong arms of his, his tongue teasing hers in a bone-liquefying kiss. Her body trembled. “Y-yes?”

“Open the door, please.”

The soft command came through the wood. She winced. Anne faced the mirrored glass once more. Coward that she was, she avoided her own gaze. She couldn’t bare facing the train wreck of her reflection and cringed at the thought of him seeing her like this. Taking a couple of deep breaths, she blew her nose one last time and dried her tears. Might as well face the music.

Silently sending the Dating God prayers of thanks, Kate had gotten her binoculars out and examined every inch of what must be at least six-foot two or three frame of muscled USDA PRIME.  

Oh. My. God! He’d been absolute perfection!

Fanning herself with one hand, and still holding the binoculars with the other, she'd ogled that perfect specimen in her line of sight. Snug black T-shirt covered a broad, well-defined chest. He'd stacked a box on top of another and lifted both easily, biceps flexing. Her mouth had gone dry. She’d angled the peepers to take in the rest of the yummy view. Black jeans clung to powerful thighs and a firm ass. A soft moan escaped from her parted lips. Black was now her new favorite color.

The object of her fascination had looked up then and caught her—binoculars and all. Never one to be shy about her overt nosy nature, she'd smiled and waved.

I snuck out of Jake’s apartment like a thief, finger-combing my hair in the elevator on the way down from his apartment. I’ve probably entered the realm of slut muffin-hood. My most accurate description of how things went down. But the Cougar Bait cocktails definitely numbed my common sense and loosened my inhibitions. I want to thank the lovely Doris O'Connor for hosting us each week and putting everything together.  This week's snippet comes from my upcoming release, Chicks Dig Scars, which has an April, 2017 release date. It's still unedited, so be kind.

All alone at this time of night creeped her out. Normally, if she were the last to leave the hospital this late, she’d have security escort her to her car. Her blinding grief and pain drove her to leave so fast, that she’d forgotten the time of day. Grabbing her key fob from her purse she quickly unlocked the door to her Camry and slid in behind the wheel.

“Rachel, there’s no time to lose. You must get over to my house right away,” Seamus said as he materialized in the front passenger seat beside her with a burst of blinding light. There was an urgency to his gentle Irish lilt that’s she’d never heard before.

Somehow, Rachel wasn’t surprised at Seamus’ sudden appearance. Maybe this whole I’m your dead patient and I’m going to haunt you thing was growing on her.
