~MIDWEEK TEASE~24~GOD'S ALLEGED GIFT TO CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY....

Welcome, welcome! Come on in and have a seat! We have some great teases to perk up your #HumpDay! Been working on edits for the re-release of The Doctor's Deception. It has a brand new cover and new content, so I thought I'd share with you a tease from that book.

Faith Daniels stared at Cheryl’s closed fist and the two short plastic straws it contained. Trepidation rippled up her spine. I hate this. Her gaze flew to Jolene, who chewed her lower lip. The two of them were the last nurses in the lounge left to choose. “Go ahead, Jo. Pick one.”

Jolene’s hand trembled as she reached out to grab a straw before she snatched her hand back. “I can’t, Faith. You go.”

“Well, somebody better draw. Nurses’ report ended five minutes ago, and I know the night shift is probably more than ready to go home,” Cheryl, the day charge nurse, urged.

“Oh, what the hell. I’ll go.” Faith inhaled a deep breath and grasped the smooth plastic. Not again. Please, God. Not again.

She pulled and out slipped the one-inch stump she’d been dreading. Cheryl opened her palm to reveal the single straw left that was about an inch and a half longer than the one Faith held. Her heart skipped a beat. Her silent prayer had fallen on deaf ears—-again. A collective sigh of relief escaped the team of six nurses that were on shift today. They collected their stethoscopes and made their escape from the lounge.

“Thank God!” Jolene said dramatically, wiping her hands on her hot pink scrub pants. “I couldn’t bear the thought of putting up with him today.” She gave Faith an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Faith, but better you than me.” Jolene picked her stethoscope up off the table and left for shift report like her hind end was on fire.

“Damn. How do I always get the short straw, Cheryl?” Faith’s gaze pinned the only nurse still left in the room. “What have I done to deserve this?”

“It’s called Karma, babe. You just don’t have any.” Cheryl chuckled. “Cheer up. At least he’ll be in surgery for a while and won’t be able to start in on his regular old bullshit right away.” She patted Faith on the back and followed the others.

Faith turned to her open locker and grasped her stethoscope. She draped it around her neck, then slammed the door shut with enough force that it bounced back open. She was going to have to deal with him for the fourth shift in a row. The thought depressed her.

Him.

Dr. Stone Lassiter.

God’s alleged gift to cardiovascular surgery.

At least in his own over-inflated opinion. A derisive snort escaped her and she closed her locker a bit more gently this time. No sense in ruining hospital property she thought and sighed heavily. Since he’d come to Deerborne County General last year, she’d made it a habit to avoid him as much as possible. But, when forced to deal with his anger when he was on a roll, she fired right back with an over-exaggerated sweetness guaranteed to get on his nerves. Her behavior was childish, but she couldn’t seem to help herself. Wasn’t there an old saying about honey versus lemons? Obviously, Doctor Granite-head hadn’t heard of it.

That's all I have for now! Below is my blurb that is a work in progress. Don't forget to check out the other teases today by clicking on the names listed below! Enjoy the rest of your Hump Day!

Blurb:

Heart Surgeon Stone Lassiter has successfully transplanted beating hearts, but it’s his own that is causing him the most agony. With a deathbed promise to his fiancรฉe, he's driven to open a transplant center in her hometown, and arrives at Deerborne County General Hospital. Single minded in his focus, he inadvertently alienates the nursing staff he needs to make his dream a success. He sets his stethoscope on intensive care nurse, Faith Daniels, to improve his image.

Nurse of the Year, Faith Daniels has passed every nursing exam, but when faced with the task of the MCAT, she has severe test anxiety. Burned by her ex-husband, who used her while she put him through law school, she has become focused on passing that darn exam, and achieving her own dream to become a doctor in her own right. Will the white lie Stone tells Faith jeopardize the love they find?

#MIDWEEK TEASE~21~WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?

Happy Wednesday! I can't believe it is already the middle of the week already and time for those teases. Each week Angelica Dawson puts together this bloghop so we can all share something from a current work in progress or published work. This week, I'm sharing from Chicks Dig Scars which is part of the Prowlers & Growlers Paranormal Boxed set which releases next week on 4/25/2017!! I'm so excited for this story! In this week's tease, Devon's dead father is trying to get his attention. I'm sure I shared a scene not too far back about Rachel getting attacked on #SexySnippets. The link is here: http://kathleengrieve.blogspot.com/2017/04/sexysnippets19.html

Devon stared over the downtown Phoenix skyline through the large bay window of his living room. The multi-colored hews of the desert sunset a gorgeous site to behold, but he saw none of it. It was time, he realized. His gaze moved to the simple platinum wedding band that had been a part of him for five long years. Carefully, he removed the ring and placed it into the front pocket of his jeans. Rachel had renewed his spirit, giving him something to look forward to each day.

Hell, he’d found himself wishing these last couple of weeks that she had become pregnant from that whole condom debacle their first night together so he could make her stay with him. How fucked up was that?

Turning away from the window he began to pace. Would Rachel leave him once she learned the truth about Shannon’s death? Coward that he was, he’d only shared with Rachel that his wife had died with very little detail. With each passing day, guilt weighed heavily on him.

It was a lie. A lie of omission, true, but still a lie and it became harder to live with himself knowing that he kept the details from Rachel. She was so free and easy with her affection. He saw the love she had for him shining in her amazing green eyes. He should be standing tall and proud, but instead the deceit tore him apart.

In the living room around him, the lamps turned on one by one. He frowned looking on as one by one they brightened all around him.

“What the hell?” Devon asked, puzzled.

The entire room seemed to buzz with electricity. The hair on Devon’s arms stood on end and a buzzing sensation tingled the back of his neck. His flat screen television turned on of its own volition and began changing channels stopping randomly. Charge-filled undercurrents buzzed all around him, through him bouncing off the walls and zinging into him and he began to tremble.

He walked over, grabbed the remote and pushed the off button. But the screen remained on. “Fuck me,” Devon said slowly, scrubbing his palms over his face. “I must be going insane.”

The channels on the flat screen continued to skip and stop…skip and stop. Different voices speaking the same words over and over.

“…save…”

“…her…”

“Father’s house…”

“…bad man…”

Devon walked to the back of the set and pulled the plug, but the television remained on skipping channels. He didn’t understand what was happening. His cellphone began chiming with incoming texts messages. Yanking it from the back pocket of his jeans he gazed at the screen. Someone with no caller ID was blowing up his phone.

17:48 pm Unknown Contact: Holy living hell, son, are you dense?

17:49 pm Unknown Contact: It’s Rachel. Get over to my house now!

17:50 pm Unknown Contact: Why haven’t you left already?

17:51 pm Unknown Contact: Jesus Mary & Joseph! I thought I raised you to listen to your elders!

Devon stared down at his cell, mouth wide open. Senses returning, anger churned his gut. Someone was fucking with him. He went to recent messages and blocked the person, but the texts kept coming. “What the fuck is going on here?”

****
That's all I have for now... I'll be sharing more from these two soon as I gear up for release day. This boxed set is still available for .99cents for only a few more days! Don't forget to hop on over and check out the other teases today. Enjoy the rest of your day!

#SEXYSNIPPETS~19~Going Somewhere?~

Happy Sunday! Today's the day we all share a snippet of a work in progress or a published book thanks to the lovely and oh so talented Doris O'Connor who puts this weekly bloghop together!! This week's snippet comes from my upcoming release, Chicks Dig Scars which is included in the Prowlers & Growlers Paranormal Boxed set where you see a bit into my heroine's tragic past...

“What have we here?” Mick said with a nasty sneer, face contorted into an all too familiar mask of rage. “Going somewhere, my pet?”

“Mick,” she said, voice a harsh whisper. His massive bulk blocked her exit. Muscles momentarily seized by fear, the slight hesitation cost her. He wedged his booted foot in the doorway as she attempted to slam it shut.

“Run!” Seamus shouted.

Finnegan’s protesting screech met her ears as she dropped the carrier. Frantic to escape, she turned and sprinted down the hallway into the kitchen. Oh, God. When had he been released from jail? At the back door, she fumbled with the latch. Mick yanked her head back by his firm grasp on her ponytail. A sob wrenched from her throat.

“Where do you think you’re going,” he said, hauling her roughly against his chest. His harsh breathing came in pants near her ear.

#MIDWEEKTEASE~19~TRICK OR TREATS LITTLE MAN, HERE I COME...

Happy Midweek to you! Thank you for stopping by Midweek Tease where we all share a little bit of a work in progress, upcoming release, or published work. As always, a special shout out to Angelica Dawson for putting together this weekly blog hop! This week's tease comes from my paranormal wip that has an upcoming deadline of June first for a late summer/early fall release in the Cimmerian Shades PNR/UFR boxed set. I'm super excited about this one because it's my first strictly paranormal book. And check out this awesome cover by EmCat Designs! Okay, so this book had a different title and I changed it. You've met the lead character, Agent Tatum Wilder, now meet one of her colleagues...

Agent Scarlet Reed watched as the balding overweight man scurried across the street. In his haste, he stumbled, not once, but twice. Sweat and fear emanated from him in waves.

Humans, a sad pathetic race. Easy prey for all the supernatural beings in the grand universe. Always ready to give up their greedy little secrets for sex, wealth, or power which placed them in need of the Nubian Council’s constant protection and rescue. She sometimes wondered why the Goddess cared so much, but if she hadn’t, the Phoenix would never have come into being. Little did the human race know how important the Phoenix were. The elite force kept the delicate balance that currently existed between all species.

Some believed humans the weakest link in the chain and would take great pride and a perverse joy in driving them to extinction. If it weren’t for the Nubian Council’s constant vigilance in saving their asses by using agents such as her, humans would’ve been destroyed hundreds of years ago causing a chain reaction most supernatural beings shudder to think about. Take vampires for example. They relied on human blood for survival. No humans. No blood. Simple as that.

When Scarlet had been a mere mortal, she’d been a virgin sacrifice to the Sun God, Ra. She’d been excited and eager to be called into the Goddess’ service and leave her miserable human existence behind. Now, it was her job to make sure humans weren’t preyed upon. She was still young enough to take a certain pride in that.

Scarlet glanced down from her five story perch of the roof of the abandoned building just as her target entered a titty bar decorated in the spirit of the upcoming Halloween holiday. The blatant display of “witches” with exaggerated cleavage and g-strings almost comical. She smiled.

Straightening, the night wrapped its velvety shroud around her. She cocked her head, listening to sounds of music and the randy shouts of lustful men with her keen hearing. At 1200 years of age, she was one of the youngest Phoenix. Phoenix were reborn every century on the anniversary of their human death when the Akthuรก began—a painful transition where their powers and heightened senses were weakened right before they were consumed by fire and turned to ash.

She grimaced, her most recent agonizing experience with the Akthuรก still fresh in her memory. The process started relatively easy enough with the loss of balance. Her beautiful burnished red hair with its golden highlights had turned dull and fell out in tufts. She lost the ability to see using her night vision. Her core body temperature rose until the first flames licked her flesh and then she’d been devoured in blessed incineration, screaming for the mercy of Sekhmet, the Goddess of War begging to die and end a misery seemingly with no conclusion.

From the pile of the ash, a Phoenix was rejuvenated and blessed with a new power. Some can foretell the future. Others could read minds. There were even those Phoenix that manipulated time and space to teleport themselves, but only the very old gain that ability. Their powers of persuasion through seduction and sex were beyond compare. And Vamps thought they cornered the market in sensuality. Scarlet snickered. As if…

Each Akthuรก a Phoenix endured was more painful than the last. Shrieks of agony from those even much older than herself could be heard from the four corners of the earth, to the heavens above, and straight down to the fiery depths of hell. Which was why during Akthuรก a Phoenix would check into the Temple of Karnak—a sort of hospital for the supernatural.

The healers of Karnak could do little to ease the extreme torment, but they provided protection in a Phoenix’s vulnerable state. It was the only time a Phoenix could be killed.

Protection against Him.

A frisson of fear twisted and snaked around her spine, coiling tight. She shivered. Scarlet dismissed her morbid thoughts before they became rooted in her brain. Strange, she hadn’t thought of the Dark Pharaoh in a very long time… Maybe her brain had fried a bit too much after this last Akthuรก. Not that she felt any lingering effects of being turned into a pile of ash. Her body was now restored and fresh. The new power of levitating objects provided a new thrill, but an unfounded apathy had taken hold. Her very existence bored her when she wasn’t on assignment. Now she had a bit more understanding of what her fellow Phoenix grumbled about upon occasion.

How the sweet fuck was she supposed to deal with that shit? When she returned to the house, which she shared with the rest of the Phoenix agents, she’d ask Magda a few questions. At over six thousand years old, she was the oldest living Phoenix in existence and their leader.

Scarlet slipped off her five inch stilettos and leapt from roof and landed on the sidewalk five stories below with the ease and grace of a feline. No sense in ruining her favorite Jimmy Choos by being careless. Replacing her cherished heels onto her feet, she adjusted the black leather mini skirt and golden sequined tank top she wore, then took the same path as her target across the deserted street. He was one of seven needed. Their combined DNA was supposedly the key to a cure of some super virus against humans. She’d wished she’d paid more attention at the briefing, but like a kid in a candy store after her rebirth, she’d been restless and had wanted to play with her new power.

Scarlet stopped and inhaled deeply. Judging by the pheromones of the man of interest to a certain vampire faction, he’d be putty in her hands. Her lips curved as exhilaration rushed through her veins replacing her earlier apathy. Thank the Goddess.
She lived for this shit.

Trick or treats little man, here I come…
*****

And there you have it... I hope you enjoyed meeting Agent Scarlet. Initially, I'd written a scene where she'd died, but my sister, Elizabeth, begged me to keep her alive because she liked her so much. So I did. Don't forget to stop by and check out the rest of today's teases!

Later Gators!

SEXY SNIPPETS~16~SHAMELESS PEEEPING TOM~

Welcome and thank you for starting off your week with us! Sexy Snippets is a weekly blog hop put together by the lovely Doris O'Connor where we share approximately 7 lines from a wip or published work. Since Sex Is The Best Medicine is coming out of the Coming In Hot Medical Boxed Set soon and will be pubbed on its own, I'm going to share from that story. This is where my heroine gets her first glimpse at her new neighbor. Its edited to try and fit the guidelines... Enjoy!

Silently sending the Dating God prayers of thanks, Kate had gotten her binoculars out and examined every inch of what must be at least six-foot two or three frame of muscled USDA PRIME.

Oh. My. God! He’d been absolute perfection!

Fanning herself with one hand, and still holding the binoculars with the other, she'd ogled that perfect specimen in her line of sight. Snug black T-shirt covered a broad, well-defined chest. He'd stacked a box on top of another and lifted both easily, biceps flexing. Her mouth had gone dry. She’d angled the peepers to take in the rest of the yummy view. Black jeans clung to powerful thighs and a firm ass. A soft moan escaped from her parted lips. Black was now her new favorite color.

The object of her fascination had looked up then and caught her—binoculars and all. Never one to be shy about her overt nosy nature, she'd smiled and waved.

That's all I have for now... Comments are always welcome and appreciated. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to see what other awesome snippets are offering up this week! Link is below.

MIDWEEK TEASE~16~HOT MESS OR NOT, I NEED TO SEE HER AGAIN...

Fabulous morning to ya! Well... not for me as I'm stuck in a vent/airway lab training all day today. But I will be popping in and out during breaks to check in with everyone.

I'm happy to announce I found a home for my story which features a group of misfit nursing students. I've had this partial for a while now so I guess it's time to get cracking on it. With the help of the lovely Barbara Hopkins I now have a series title~Nursing Misfit Series~Book 1 Healing Touch. This is unedited, so be kind :)

Ryder stared after Anne, perplexed. His instincts told him to stay away from that one. She was a hot mess, all right. So much drama… Shaking his head, he started down the hall toward the nurse’s station for morning rounds where the team of doctors, nurses, social workers, case management, nutritionist, and pharmacist met with each patient individually and made certain he or she was on the right track for discharge.

Ryder hadn’t had any qualms lying to Mrs. Strickland about why Anne was late to clinical. Not that he made a habit about lying, but he’d seen that nursing instructor in action before. She’d tear into Anne for a less infraction, he was sure, but one look at Anne’s tear streaked face and drama aside, he had glimpsed fragility there. His heart summersaulted and his protective instincts had kicked into overdrive. Not sure how much more crap thrown her way she could take, he’d lied to protect her. And would do it again, he realized. He cared for her. The shock of the realization rocked him and he nearly dropped the open chart in his hands on the floor.

He felt partly responsible for her predicament, but that didn’t explain the emotional attachment to a woman he barely knew. They’d spent one night together. One rockin’ night, he amended and nearly groaned aloud when images of Anne’s incredible mouth trailing hot, moist kisses down his navel toward his hard cock seized his mind. His body reacted and he turned a bit toward the bookcase to hide his erection, using the top edge to hold the medical record as he paged through it, the words a blur.

Ryder went over the events of the previous evening. She had told him she couldn’t go out last night at the bar. But then that stupid fight had erupted and there was broken glass everywhere. He wasn’t sure if it was the booze, or the super charged atmosphere of the situation, but when he’d bent to help her clean up the sharp shards and they’d cut themselves on that single piece and suddenly his world spun out of control. Time seemed suspended and when he’d looked into those deep blue eyes of hers, he knew he wouldn’t be taking no for an answer.

With a heavy sigh, he sat at the computer designated for the doctors and logged in to Mr. Avondale’s electronic patient record. While he put in his bedside assessment, detailed the wound dressing change, and placed a few orders for the nursing staff, his mind lingered on a certain blonde who’s hair smelled of fresh lilies and had the most amazing plump, kissable lips.

God, the things she’d done with that mouth.
His cock strained against the zipper of his dress slacks and he shifted in his chair in an attempt to relieve the pressure. “Hot mess or not, I need to see her again,” he muttered low under his breath.

That's all I have for now! Don't forget to check out the other hot teases this week! I hope to have a cover for you soon... Enjoy the rest of your week!

MIDWEEK TEASE~15~

Happy Hump Day! Welcome to this week's #MidWeekTease. It was a hectic weekend so I'm so glad it was over and I'm looking forward to having a few days of down time. Well, downtime for me is writing if I can squeeze it in. I have two more books under deadline, the first of which is due June first, but the only one I can think about right now is the one due in September. Fickle, fickle muse.

A special Thanks to Angelica Dawson for putting on this weekly blog hop :) This week's tease comes from Chicks Dig Scars which is part of the Prowlers & Growlers Paranormal Boxed Set.

Rachel glanced down at Seamus’ still body in the steel grey casket he lay in. She’d arrived early enough because she’d wanted to have this private moment to say goodbye before she had to face all her colleagues and his jerk of a son.

She caressed his hair. There was a little half smile on his face. A tear slipped down her cheek and she swiped it away with a tissue. “You look good, Seamus,” she murmured, admiring the dark navy blue suit and red tie.

A flash of brilliant light that was becoming all too familiar burst into the room next to her. “I do, don’t I?” Seamus said. “When do we get this party started?”

Rachel rounded on him. “Where have you been? I haven’t seen you for three whole days! Ever since your son accused me of sleeping with you to swindle you out of your money. Why didn’t you tell me about the inheritance so I could of at least been prepared for his accusations and the allegations of others? People are bound to talk once that little bit of information gets around.”

“Ah, Rachel,” Seamus said patiently. “I’ve been busy, girl. Me and Evie were getting reacquainted if you know what I mean,” he said, waggling his bushy eyebrows happily.

“There’s sex in the afterlife?” she asked, shocked.

He opened his mouth to speak and she held up a hand. “No. Wait. I don’t want to know. Your sex life is just a little bit TMI.”

“Well, Rachel girl, you’re the one who brought it up,” he said reasonably.

“No,” she said. “Your son did when he accused me of being a gold digging whore the other day.”

Seamus’ gaze widened. “I don’t remember him using those words, exactly.”

“You were there! And spying on us? Ah, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,” she said and began to pace. “Why?” Rachel demanded. “If you knew all of this already, why did you let me stress out about it for the last few days!”

The sly look on his face was her answer. “Oh, right,” she said. “You were getting reacquainted with your wife. Can’t you talk to Devon? Set him straight about this entire business?” she pleaded, pausing her pacing to stop in front of him. “It’s humiliating.”

He slipped his palm up to her cheek and waves of warmth and calm infused into her. “There, now, lass,” he said. “Don’t fret about a thing. I’m confident that everything will work out just fine. The boy will come to his senses,” he soothed. “Besides, you’re the only one who can actually hear and see me for some reason. I’ve visited Devon. Made all kinds of ghostly racket sans chains, booing, etc…but the boy is deaf and blind when it comes to me.”

“Wonderful,” she muttered. “Just wonderful.”

“I’m glad you like everything,” Paul Levinson said, coming into the room behind her.

Rachel jumped and Seamus disappeared in a flash of dizzying colors. “Ah, um, yes,” she said covering her surprise. “The bouquet of Rock Sea-Spurrey flowers were Seamus’ favorite. I’m so glad you were able to get them to lay on top of the casket. The lavender color goes great.”

Paul smiled. He was a slight, balding man in his late fifties with sharp, intelligent eyes that missed nothing. He’d been a great help when her ex-husband had been stalking her.

“You know Seamus, organized to the very last detail,” he said. “He’d paid a local florist shop to keep them on hand for this occasion.” His voice got a little choked up. “I’m going to miss the old bugger.”

Rachel placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. “We all are,” she said, wondering where Seamus had poofed off to now.

#SEXYSNIPPETS~14~WHEN YOU FUCK UP SO ROYALLY...

Happy Sunday! Welcome to the first #SexySnippets of March! As always, I want to thank Doris O'Connor for putting together this weekly blog hop. This week's snippet comes from Diary Of A Naughty Nurse which is part of the Steamy & Dreamy Sizzling boxed set collection. I just love these characters.

When you fuck up so royally, it is really hard to trust the tough decisions that need to be made.

The biggest one is what do I do about Dr. Jake Miller? So far, I’ve been able to avoid him by taking a few vacation days. He doesn’t have my number or know where I live, but I do feel guilty. Melanie says he has asked about me at work. But how can I face him after all that we’d shared? I let the man spank me, for Christ’s sake. Actually begged him for more and I liked it—no, I loved it. My entire body is getting all hot and bothered just thinking about all the ways he took me and made me come over and over again. I’ll probably have to either take a cold shower or scrounge around for another set of batteries for my vibrator.

But first, let me tell you what happened next, Diary. You just won’t believe it…

******

Blurb:

Dear Diary,

Oh Diary, I have been so naughty--naughtier than I've ever been in all of my forty-eight years. I feel wonderful as I sit here and ache in the most delicious places. Usually, I follow the rules, but I didn't this time. Nurses aren't supposed to sleep with doctors--especially ones who are thirteen years younger. Wow, that's such an unlucky number, but I feel more fortunate than I ever have before. Hell if I'm lucky enough, I plan to break the rules with this man over and over again. And the best part is that he is relentless in his pursuit as well as in bed. He's younger, hotter, and more aggressive than any man I've ever had. I cannot wait to tell you what he does to me next. I just know its just going to get better and better. Until tomorrow... One very satiated nurse.

That's all I have for now! Don't forget to check out the other great snippets from the other participating authors this week!
