A FEW WORDS ON THAT FIRST KISS....

If you are an author of Romance...how important is that first kiss between your hero and heroine. I'd say it is extremely important. There are even contests put on by RWA (Romance Writers of America) chapters. The First Kiss, Show Your Inner Vixen, and Show Me The Spark all come to mind.

What makes a first kiss in a novel so good that your reader will lean forward and think, "Oh, my!" Think about some of the romances you've read. What made the scene jump out at you?

Well, in my humble opinion, several things come into play. First is how well the author has built the anticipation of that first kiss between the H/H.

Next, do the author use the five senses? What do your characters taste, smell, see, touch, and hear while the kiss is going on? This is HUGE! Later in the book, the senses can trigger memories of that first kiss.

Why not use your creativity and imagination to place your characters in a quirky or unusual situation to make that first kiss a little bit more memorable.

Just for fun, why not see what famous movie kiss are you? Take the quiz below to find out. I took the quiz and my result is posted below. Remember that kiss from Spiderman? Probably one of the more sexy scenes out there.

Your Famous Movie Kiss is from Spiderman
